Just like in life, sometimes all the stars align for a perfect day of golf. That’s what happened last week.

TIMING – CHECK!  The first thing this perfect day needed was a canceled trip.  My friend Anne Marie was supposed to go to Georgia but her trip got canceled at the last minute.  So, on the spur of the moment, she needed 3 friends who were available to play in her club’s Member-Guest.  HA!  I’m ALWAYS available!

COURSE – CHECK!   When I first moved to PA, I was given a list of “Must Play” courses in the area and Lookaway Golf Club was on the top of that list.  It lives up to the hype.

BEETHOVEN, MOZART AND BACH – CHECK!   When it comes to classical music, I don’t know my ass from my elbow.  Er, make that, I don’t know my bassoon from my oboe.   But I love going to the symphony and Philadelphia is blessed with one of the top five orchestras in the country.  Who were my playing companions?  Yup, prominent members of the Philadelphia Orchestra.  I asked them if they wanted to hear me play Cat Stevens on my guitar… they declined.

COMPANY – CHECK!   Musical talent aside, these three players were all gracious partners and really fun (this round had a lot of laughs).  And they were all competitive enough but nobody screamed about missing a short putt (okay, maybe I did).

WEATHER – CHECK!   You may not be able to tell from the photo that the four of us are absolutely drenched.  When the heavens opened up, they did so with gusto.  But when the day is already perfect, even a downpour can be fun.

FIRST PLACE – CHECK!  Okay, we tied with two other teams, but hey, a win’s a win.
